Blue Stain Wood
The beautiful "blue-stain" in some wood is created by microscopic fungi that commonly infect only the sapwood of trees using parts of the sapwood (including simple sugars and starches) for food. They cannot grow in the heartwood. They do not cause decay nor effect the strength of the wood.
Blue stain fungi are spread by spores which are produced in abundance. The spores are sticky and carried into the wood from insect activity.
It is the blue stain fungi that creates the bluish and greyish discoloration of the wood sometimes completely covering the sapwood or appearing as specks, spots, streaks or patches of various color intensities. It is in high demand among furniture makers because of it's unique, decorative appearance.

To make our furniture we fell "dead standing trees" or gather them from the forest floor.
Our logs are patiently "hand peeled" to preserve their natural beauty.
